I could take you from the beginning of this whole journey but I don't want to completely bore you ;) Long story short, we had been trying to conceive for quite some time now and for some reason just wasn't "working". So a month after coming back from our Ireland/London trip and seeing a faint little red line on an EPT I completely burst into tears when I showed John.
Shoutout to my sister Christin for having a weird sense when I told her "I feel SO BLOATED" & bought me a test without me knowing. She was the first person to see the test, actually before John :)
If you follow me on social media then you probably saw our announcement...I couldn't resist incorporating my high-waisted jeans that John has always referred to as my "mom jeans" (I happen to love them, thank you very much). Another shoutout goes to my best friend Meg for snapping a bunch of these weird, crazy photos & handling it like a pro. (Note to Meg: All flights & roads to Denver are down/closed indefinitely, so you're never allowed to leave.)
As far as a gender reveal, we didn't want to have a party and I couldn't stand the thought of John hitting something resembling a golf ball that poofed into some colored powder to let us know the sex of our baby. One, I have way too much anxiety & too much of a control freak to NOT know right away. Two, I think gender reveal parties are super cute & exciting, they just weren't for us. We found out in the comfort of our home, just the 2 of us (and Maddie, of course). It was perfect.
To wrap this up before I write an entire novel, we are so incredibly excited to welcome this little nugget into our world (Maddie may feel a little differently..).
And to the women out there who want to be mamas & may start to be losing hope: I promise you, it will happen. And it's the best feeling in the world.
Links to what we're wearing are below (my dress is from Urban Outfitters but i linked a few similar options). Maddie's collar is from Crew Lala.
