When I saw this dress some time back, it was like I saw a puppy -- I immediately fell in love & couldn't stop thinking about it. I love the vibrancy of the stripes and even the long, oversized shape of it (aka eat as much as you want & no one will notice). The fabric is surprising lightweight so you don't have to haul around a long, heavy dress while walking around.
Oh, it also has pockets so..you know that's a key selling point for me.
I wore this for the first time over in Ireland when my Pop-pop's side of the family threw us a big party at the Shandon Hotel -- this beautiful hotel up on a hill that overlooks the beach. Talk about a gorgeous view!! It was SO wonderful to see everyone together and be in the presence of family, and also to remember my grandparents.
The town we stayed in, Dunfanaghy, is between the 2 towns my grandparents were from -- Creeslough (my Pop-pop) & Falcarrah (my Mom-mom). Or at least it seems right in the middle ;) It's a tiny town with some restaurants, bars, and shops on the main street. Our house was within walking distance, so it was nice to walk into town & get some fresh pastries & coffee for breakfast.
This beautiful little beach town is an absolute must-see if you go to Ireland (all of Donegal is!). And if you do visit there, I'm sure you'll come across a family member or two of mine :)
dress: marimekko (tunic version here)
This is where we would get delicious pastries for breakfast from in the mornings, if it wasn't at the local restaurant Lizzie's (I prefer sweet things in the morning however :) ). How adorable is this outside area?!
