The Most Wonderful, Stressful Time of the Year

I can certainly claim the holiday season is a stressful time of year, now that the days of studying for finals in college & wedding planning are behind me. The people who finish their Christmas shopping on Black Friday? Hats off to you, you crazy shopper (sorry). Finished your shopping a whole month beforehand? Teach me your ways. Shopping all done in July (you know who you are)? Don't talk to me (but also I need to know how).

J and I started a very, very unintended tradition about 7 years ago when we first started dating that goes a little something like this:

Me: "Let's go Christmas shopping this weekend, we don't need to get too much." Note: this is always the weekend before Christmas.

John: "Ok."

3 hours later after wandering the chaotic mall...

Me: "I'm hungry & tired." Read: I'M HANGRY AND FEED ME NOW.

John: "Ok."

Usually after this point, an adult libation (usually a margarita) and a snack of some sort is consumed, and we try to think of our Christmas shopping. Yes that's right -- think. And then we go home. With no presents. And shop on Christmas Eve.

This year I welcomed myself to 2015 and actually managed to do a LOT of our shopping online, just a few odds & ends to tie up, naturally the weekend before Christmas. We planned accordingly, got what we needed to get, then at marg-and-snack break-time we finished everything on Amazon. Why this took us 7 years, I'm still not sure.

For a big shopping day I always need something comfortable to wear, that is why you will NEVER see me in heels to run errands. Kudos to the gals who can do that, I aim to be like you. This sweater dress is still cozy & casual, even though it's a little clingy -- I've worn it numerous times already! If I was going out to dinner/not walking around so much I would probably wear booties with this too.

This jacket. You guys....this jacket. I bought this coat a few years ago and it's the very first Burberry item I owned, let alone bought myself. My mother was with me and actually talked me into it! She said it was a well-made & timeless piecethat would last me for a few years. I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on, and still love it to this day. Mother always knows best, amiright?!

This was taken in our back yard....that's our garage behind me! Isn't it cute?!

Happy crazy holidays!
